  • Following on from yesterdays play with sidewalk cracks and road crack patterns that developed into a kind of vessel shape after extending the lines and responding to arising shapes I carried on developing the sketchbook drawings to see where I could take it

  • The initial  sketchbook drawing had a kind of vessel shape for me , without wanting it to define or name any more precise than that to prevent myself from associating it too closely with like say a boat etc, but rather watch for the natural development of the shape itself , for now I am noticing a vessel shape, a carrier of sorts

  • The bowl , hull part of the vessel invited itself to be filled with " melodic bird" pattern , a sound line developed a few days earlier within the linear frequencies overheard

  • when filling the outline in a dark tone I am now feeling a definite sense of protective containment
  • noticing that I did not " set out" to create a feeling of containment , it was simply arising as a result of letting myself play with filling in shapes, adding removing, exploring

  • a closure of sorts arises when I fill the bowl/hull shape like and outer sense of a wall, containment doorway perhaps that hints at its inner life

  • Using some natural hand dyed fabric I started to intuitively follow the vessel shape by stitching it onto the cloth without first tracing the design by simply closely looking at the sketchbook drawing so that I may further feel my way into its edges , curves and boundaries
  • curious to where it will lead :-)
